Whitesboro, Bells ready for round three
BELLS, Texas (KTEN) - One big play has been the difference in the last two meeting between Bells and Whitesboro. The Bearcats came out on top in overtime in 2021 and won on a last-minute come from behind touchdown in 2022.
"It's going to be a great test," said Bells head coach Dale West. "The last two have been great games but we haven't finished. They've had some exceptional players that have made plays, our kids just have to be the ones making one more this time."
"We just have to continue to grind it out, continue to work and know it will probably be another close one Friday and see if we can make the plays down the stretch," said Whitesboro head coach Cody Fagan.
Both of these teams are similar in that they made deep playoff runs a year ago. Both also lost their fair share of seniors.
However, both teams came out with a chip on the shoulder with big week one wins. Whitesboro took care of Krum 49-26, while Bells went on the road and beat Muenster 34-19.
"It's definitely like just saying we can do this too," said Whitesboro senior Brett Donaldson. "We've lost however many seniors, people are saying 'we can't do this' but coming out week one and scoring 49, I think that's sending a message to everyone else that we can really do some damage."
"We played awesome I think," said Bells junior Easton Helgren. "It was a good game for us to get experience and I think we did well. "We have some things we need to clean up but overall I think we're a good team this year and we're going to go far."
Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Bells on Friday.
