SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) - Low turnout number forced Texoma Christian School to cancel its 2022 campaign. However, the Eagles are back with big numbers in 2023.

"We're actually going to have a junior high team and a high school team," said Texoma Christian head coach Matt Townsend. "We're going to play four games that are doubleheaders so there's a lot of excitement about that."

The Eagles have not taken the field since a 1-9 season in 2021 but there is optimism that they can turn that around this year and a big reason for that is what the offense can do.

"We all have great athletic ability," said junior Jayden Jackson. "I think we can push the ball town the field."

It's no secret in 6-man football, every players has to be in shape.

"We use the conditioning as incentive to win those competitive drills... if you get scored on you have to run and vice-versa," said Townsend.

TCS opens the season at home on August 25 against Fairhill Academy.
