Sherman ready for new season with new coaches and faces
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) - Going home is an opportunity we often covet but do not always get, which presents Josh Aleman with a unique opportunity in his first year leading his alma mater.
"Having that Sherman DNA is a real good thing to have and a lot of these Sherman alums coming back to help in the community is a good thing," said junior quarterback Caleb Orr."
On the field though, the Bearcats want to get back to winning ways after going 4-6 a season ago, missing the playoffs. They will need some younger players to step up after graduating multiple senior captains.
"I can lead more, like I have more value where I can lead more," said junior running back Kane Bowen. "My word actually matters so I can get my team ready to compete and win this year."
"It gives everyone an opportunity to step up and be the next leader," said Aleman."
One guy Sherman will lean on heavily is junior quarterback Caleb Orr, who impressed down the stretch of his sophomore season.
"I was really nervous going into it," said Orr. "But getting that experience will help me out this year."
Sherman opens the season with "Battle of the Ax" at home on August 25 against arch-rival Denison.
