SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — A Sherman nonprofit group has plans to help juvenile offenders find a better future.

The Grayson County Department of Juvenile Services recently asked Heart Of A Matter Ministries to pilot a program called Open Table, which offers mentoring to help young people achieve their personal goals.

"One of the benefits of the Open Table program is they've seen in other Open Table programs a significant reduction in recidivism, actually kids going back to the juvenile justice system," said Brian Gardner, vice president and program coordinator.

Heart Of A Matter Ministries is seeking volunteers to launch the Open Table program in September.
