Several tornadoes caused damage in central Oklahoma on May 11. KTEN Storm Chaser Alex Spahn was able to capture one of the tornadoes that impacted Cole, OK and the moment the tornado formed.

With the spring season slowly transitioning over to summer, the spring 2023 severe weather season appears to be taking a back seat. This does not rule out the likelihood of seeing severe weather in Texoma over the next seven months, but it is less likely.
May 2023 featured a record high of 93° set on May 5 with a sprinkling of below average high temperatures as well. In total, 25 days were above average in terms of high temps.
A lack of rainfall has started to take its toll on Texoma as well. Only 3.53” of rain fell in Sherman, TX during the month. The average rainfall for May is 5.54”.

More significant rainfall is needed to help us with our impending drought that could cause issues once again during the summer.
