Memorial honors late Love County sheriff
MARIETTA, Okla. (KTEN) — Love County Sheriff Marty Grisham passed away on May 26, 2022.
One year later, his legacy is being recognized with a memorial bench in front of the Love County Justice Center.
Grisham dedicated his life to public service in law enforcement. His career began in 1978 with the Marietta Police Department before making stops at Gainesville PD and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Despite retiring in 2014, he ran unopposed in 2016 to become the sheriff of Love County.
"Inputting integrity, service before self, and honesty back into the sheriff's department in making it what it is today," said Eric Grisham, the lat sheriff's son.
On Friday morning, on the one year anniversary of Grisham's passing, the Love County Sheriff's Office will present Grisham's duty pistol to his family, along with the unveiling of a memorial bench.

The memorial has been planned for months, and Eric Grisham believes the work of the sheriff's office — along with the bench — perfectly represent who his dad was.
"Continue to run the department as they are now, with the high level of integrity and character," Eric Grisham said. "I think that's the ultimate cherry on top for honoring my dad's legacy."
Sheriff Grisham's memorial unveiling will take place at 11 o'clock Friday morning.
