SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Grayson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Phyllis James announced Tuesday that she won't be seeking another term.

When her current term is complete at the end of next year, she will have served 12 years as commissioner.

James introduced the CEO of the Greater Texoma Association of Realtors, Lindsay Wright, as a contender for her seat.

Wright has been with the local Realtors group for nine years. She said she has been a liaison for property rights and promoting home ownership.

Wright already has a list of priorities if voters choose her to replace James.

"I think public safety needs to be the first one," Wright said. "I live at the rural part of the county, and ambulance service is a big concern for our area right now. I think that is something that is already being talked about, and definitely we need to make sure we can see that through."

Wright plans to begin her campaign on June 1.

The next term for Precinct 3 begins on January 1, 2025.
