Benefit set for Lake Bonham drowning victim
BONHAM, Texas (KTEN) — Family and friends are holding a benefit this weekend for a man who drowned in Lake Bonham.
The body of 28-year-old Colton Hamilton was found on Mother's Day morning after he went missing while kayaking.
Hamilton was married and had three children. The funds from Sunday's benefit event will go towards helping his family and taking care of funeral expenses.
The benefit event will take place at the Bonham VFW. There will be a live auction, silent auction, food and live music.
"For Colton, he would have done the same... he would've just given the shirt off from his back," said relative Angie Jenkins. "So to be able to have something be donated for his family says a lot. This is such a sad time for them right now."
Jenkins added that Hamilton was a great father; outgoing and very funny. He loved to fish and spend time at the lake.
