Ardmore seeks funding for downtown airport upgrades
ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — The City of Ardmore is asking the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to approve a grant to help pay for a $4 million runway rehabilitation project at the Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport.
City Manager Kevin Boatright said other projects in Ardmore would compliment runway rehabilitation.
"It's over a million dollars, and it's improving some hangar space, drainage, fencing, and that is in order to build about nine new hangars," Boatright said. "There's a lot of interest in seeing more general aviation at that airport."
Boatright adds that in anticipation of runway deterioration over the next five years, funding for runway rehabilitation would be timely.
If approved for the grant, Ardmore's share of the project would be $216,667.
