A new RV for Tishomingo vet in need
TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) — With the help of a neighbor and a nonprofit organization, Vietnam veteran Grady Mead is the owner of a new trailer home.
Shawna Latham noticed that Mead's trailer was run down after passing it daily. She consulted Facebook for advice on how to help.
Messages started pouring in and she got connected with Operation Texas Strong, which provides donated recreational vehicles to homeless and in-need retired servicemen and women.
"I got a message about Operation Texas Strong, so I reached out to them," Latham said. "They went above and beyond to connect the donor and I. The donor is from Oklahoma City, and he was camping and just happened to be nearby and was ready and willing to donate his camper to a good cause, and we were that cause, so it just all worked out."
Mead's RV came fully stocked with donated dishes and other household items.
