TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) — Murray State College is now in a class of its own.

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education have approved Murray State College's gunsmithing program to offer a bachelor's degree.

This will make MSC the only gunsmithing program in the country to offer a four-year degree, which will help expand curriculum and job opportunities.

"We are limited under the associates applied science on how many hours we can teach. That limits how many classes and how many subjects we can cover," said Chad Mercer, the school's director of gunsmithing.  "There's areas where we are deficient as this industry modernizes. The bachelor's program is going to allow us to fit that in and broaden out."

Murray State College will still offer its gunsmithing associate's degree; however, the bachelor's degree will be the only four-year degree offered at the school.
