McALESTER, Okla. (KTEN) — Kevin Shelman, an inmate at the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester, escaped sometime around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections said Shelman, 50, managed to elude the long arm of the law for a little more than four hours before he was apprehended on prison grounds.

Shelman is serving two 15-year sentences for obscene, threatening, or harassing phone calls. and one 10-year sentence for assault and battery on a police officer.
