Blake Yancey approved as new Whitewright AD and Head Football Coach
WHITEWRIGHT, Texas (KTEN) - The Whitewright Tigers have a new face to lead their athletic department and football program and his name is Blake Yancey.
The Whitewright board of trustees unanimously approved Yancey as their new AD and Head Football Coach. Yancey was previously the Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Frisco High School.
Yancey replaces Kevin Wiggins whose contract was not renewed. Yancey has been coaching football for over two decades, and when it came time to make a decision, he was attracted to what the school district brings to the table.
"It was the school district's vision in general," Yancey said. "It's an A district. They have a plan for themselves and it was clearly put out on the table of where they want to go and what they want to do. They are very 'pro kid' and they do everything in their power to let all of these kids have the best experience. From a parent standpoint, that's huge, but from an educator and coach standpoint, that is something you want to be a part of."
