Savage Storm drop series opener to Harding
DURANT, Oklahoma (KTEN) - per Southeastern Oklahoma State Athletic Communications:
DURANT, Okla. – Seth Morrow homered in the contest, but it was not enough to power Southeastern to a win as the Savage Storm dropped the series opener versus Harding 6-1 on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.
The loss dips the Savage Storm to 20-19 overall and 12-13 in Great American Conference play with a doubleheader slated to conclude the series on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.
Senior day for nine SE seniors will precede the first contest and begin at approximately 12:40 p.m.
Morrow homered and finished the game with a hit and an RBI to lead the Storm offense.
Cory Bonstrom and Joseph Ramirez each added a hit, as did Blake McQuain in a pinch-hit opportunity.
Cole Canuteson got the start and took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
Dillon Bumgarner turned in his longest outing of the season in relief with 5.0 innings pitched, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
HU took advantage of an error which allowed a run to come home in the top of the first and then tacked on a three-run homer to take a 4-0 lead midway through the opening inning.
The Bisons would tack on a run in the third on an RBI single and another in the fifth on a solo homer to mount a 6-0 lead.
Morrow would connect on his own solo homer in the bottom of the seventh to get the Storm on the board, but that was where the rally stopped as 6-1 would be the final score.
