Fleeing car theft suspect nabbed in Calera
CALERA, Okla. (KTEN) — The armed driver of a stolen vehicle was taken into custody after a Wednesday morning police pursuit in Bryan County.
The sheriff's office said deputies and other law enforcement agencies took up the chase shortly after 8 a.m. after a gray Nissan Altima was identified as stolen.
The suspect — later identified as Jesus Jorge Mendoza — fled into the woods with a gun after crashing at the end of Posey Lane in Calera.
Police set up a perimeter around the area and captured Mendoza a short time later.
Bryan County Undersheriff Joey Tucker said it was a team effort.
"Tribes stepped up; Durant Police Department, Oklahoma Patrol, Calera Police Department, Bryan County Sheriff's Office," he said. "Without that teamwork and collaboration from all these agencies, he probably wouldn't be caught that quick, and I am just grateful we have this teamwork."
