ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) -  Ardmore head football coach Josh Newby has done a lot and seen a lot in his 24 years leading the Tigers. However, earlier this week he was given a rare award that he described as an honor.

Newby was given the 2022 Semper Fidelis Coach Award presented by the U.S. Marines on Monday. The award is given to a coach that exemplifies the core values of the Marines.

"It's so cool," said Newby. "Really what it boils down to is we want our kids to not be a ship lost at sea. We want our kids to have a plan, whether that's trade school, college sports or going to the military."
