(KTEN) — Paws For A Cause Cat Rescue says it is saving more than 70 cats.

Executive director Angela Hungate-Clay said the nonprofit received a call from the Bryan County Sheriff's Office about almost the discovery of almost six dozen felines at a hoarding site just northwest of Durant.

On Monday, the rescue brought in carriers to remove all the cats from the location.

From there, the animals will be examined by a veterinarian.

"Some will have to be euthanized; they are that sick, because of cancer and age, and things like that," Hungate-Clay said. "The other ones, we're looking to fix. Not only do we fix them, we vaccinate them, we give them their rabies snap tests... we do everything."

She emphasized the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
