Child care for teachers bill clears Oklahoma Senate

(KTEN) — The Oklahoma Senate has approved a pilot program for school employee child care.
The legislation, authored by Sen. David Bullard (R-District 6) would direct the State Board of Education to establish a two-year pilot program awarding grants to school districts to provide child care for school employees.
"This is a commonsense benefit for families that will hopefully keep teachers and school employees in the workforce," Bullard said in a written statement.
He also believes that passage would help attract and retain quality educators in Oklahoma.
Senate Bill 16 cleared the upper chamber on Monday and is now on its way to the House for further consideration.
