GORDONVILLE, Texas (KTEN) — Fire destroyed a building at the Cedar Mills Marina and Resort at Lake Texoma Tuesday night.

The Sherwood Shores Fire Department said they received a call about a structure fire just before 11:30 p.m. When the first units arrived, they found the ship's store engulfed in flames.

The ship's store was a two-story commercial building that had retail and marina offices, well known and liked by boaters and visitors.

"It was such a neat old building... really great people here," said Sherwood Shores resident Mike Chitwood. "Just really sad it burned down, can't believe that."

"My favorite store on Lake Texoma," added Teresa Awtrey Nelson in a Facebook post reacting to news of the fire. "Heartbreaking."

Sherwood Shores firefighters said there was no one inside the building when it caught fire and no injuries were reported.

Mutual aid was provided by the Gordonville, Whitesboro, and Callisburg fire departments.

The Pelican's Landing restaurant adjacent to the ship's store at the marina was not damaged.
