Two arrested after fatal McCurtain County fire

McCURTAIN COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — The McCurtain County Sheriff's Office said a civil dispute escalated to a fatal fire near Idabel last Thursday. It's now being investigated as an arson-homicide.
Danette Stowe, 43, died in the fire after Sheriff Kevin Clardy said she entered the burning house in the 2800 block of Womack Road in an attempt to rescue her two dogs. She and the pets were found dead inside after first responders arrived. Stowe's husband was hospitalized with injuries.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation identified Allen Shaw, 89, and 68-year-old Randy Sander as suspects in the case. Each is facing charges of second degree murder and second degree arson. They are jailed in McCurtain County with bond set at $500,000 each.
Clardy characterized the two men as the property owner and an "individual that started the fire."
The sheriff said the two residents of the house that burned had allegedly failed to pay rent for more than two years.
