DURANT, Okla (KTEN) — The Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women is educating students about the dangers of human trafficking.

The Not Me Community Conversation is designed for high school and college students.

During the event, commissioners shared concerns about the crime of trafficking in Oklahoma.

"Many of us like to believe that trafficking is happening to other people, groups, or people who are coming outside of the state, but statistics say that trafficking is happening right here in our towns, in Choctaw Nation," said Jill Shero, commissioner with the Oklahoma Status of Women.
