Work begins on new Durant weather radar
DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — After months of delays, the much-anticipated Baron weather radar installation in Durant got underway on Monday morning.
The radar will be erected on top of the water tower adjacent to Cardinal Glass Manufacturing west of Durant on U.S. 70.
Construction is expected to take about a week. Due to severe weather concerns, the original install date, March 2nd, has been postponed. Weather permitting, they will begin to lift the radar dome early next week.
The radar is expected to be fully operational and transmitting by the middle of March.
