DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — The Denison City Council voted Tuesday evening to approve the adoption of impact fees on property developers.

Denison is one of the few North Texas cities that had not yet implemented the fees.

"It's basically asking developers to pay for development," said city engineer Fanchon Stearns. "They are going to turn around and make profit on their product, so we are asking them to put a little bit back into our system."

The approval will not change anything at the moment, as the city said this will be a lengthy process before developers are required to pay the city.
