DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — The City of Denison has kicked off its biannual amnesty program.

Anyone with an arrest warrant and corresponding fines can donate 10 cans of food for a $50 reduction of fines; 20 cans for a $100 reduction.

This program is for individuals to get warrants cleared; it does not apply to anyone with a speeding ticket.

The canned food will be donated to St. Luke's Pantry to feed those in need.

"Every time we go over there and donate, they are so thankful to the Denison community for all that they are providing for them," said City of Denison spokesperson Emily Agans. "They always need help. They're always looking for donations."

Donations can only be made during normal business hours at Municipal Court on the first floor of City Hall at 300 West Main Street. The program continues through March 3.
