SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) -- The Grayson County Jail is making agreements with cities to reimburse the county for housing Class C misdemeanor inmates.

The jail currently asks for $65 per inmate.

"With the overcrowded issues in the jail, we're trying to find ways to offset that cost, and so by passing that cost back off to the cities that are bringing their prisoners," said Sheriff's Department spokesperson Capt. Marty Hall.

He added there are only 391 beds at the Grayson County Jail. They're currently housing 388 inmates and have 17 out of the county.

There are plans to increase the jail's capacity.
