Car recovered from icy lake in Roff
ROFF, Okla. (KTEN) — The Pontotoc County Sheriffs Office, the Chickasaw Lighthorse dive team and other local firefighters braved freezing temperatures to recover a car that was found submerged in Roff's City Lake.
Officials were first alerted to the vehicle in a 911 call from Roff residents on Tuesday.
The Chickasaw Lighthorse dive team was called to the scene to assist in the recovery.
Emergency personnel confirmed that nobody was inside the car, and the red Nissan Altima was then towed out of the icy waters.
The Roff Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post that recovering an unoccupied car was the best possible outcome.
The Pontotoc County Sheriff is investigating; they haven't yet released information about how the car got there and who it belonged to.
