DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Denison police are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning.

Police said officers found 24-year-old Anthony Taylor dead around 2 a.m. at an address in the 2900 block of Layne Drive.

"Also at the scene was the suspect and several other witnesses, all of which are acquaintances," said Denison police Chief Mike Gudgel. "After some investigation, it was determined that the suspect would be taken into custody and ultimately charged with murder."

The suspect was identified as Michael Harris Bearden Jr., 21. A firearm was recovered from the scene.

"This case is still under investigation and will be submitted to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office upon completion," said police spokesperson Emily Agans in a written statement.
