SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN)—The Grayson County Metropolitan Planning Organization is balancing out costs for construction projects.

The county has a four-year Metropolitan Transportation Plan, and a 25-year plan. Every five years, they edit the long-term plan to make sure the costs of the including construction projects match up.

""We do have to look out 25 years," Grayson County engineer Clay Barrett said. "We take our best guess on what's gonna happen with population growth and where our needs are going to be in 25 years, and predict what roads we're going to improve"

The MPO is proposing updated prices for three projects along Highway 75: a stretch between the Collin County border up to FM 902, FM 902 up to FM 1417, and the road between US 82 and Loy Lake Road in Denison.

"Basically what this amendment does is it adds three projects to our long range plan that were currently in there but had a different amount of funding than what it looks like," Barrett said.

The MPO will hold a public information meeting to explain the amendments on Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. in the county courthouse.
