ADA, Okla. (KTEN) — The family and friends of Lauren Smeltz are still reeling after a devastating crash on Tuesday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Smeltz was westbound on State Highway 3 just outside of Ada, when her pickup truck was hit by another pickup driven by Henry Nwajagu.

Smeltz, 28, was eight months' pregnant at the time of the crash and was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in critical condition.

OHP hasn't provided an update on Smeltz's condition since the crash.

In light of the tragedy, a GoFundMe account was for Smeltz and her unborn child was established by sibling Chris Meyer. Meyer said Smeltz was on the way to one of her last obstetrician appointments for her unborn child.

Meyer said his sister is not expected to recover.

The baby, named Violet, survived. She was being cared for at the the neo-natal intensive care unit at OU Medical Center as of Wednesday.

The GoFundMe account has raised more than $43,000 in the last 24 hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
