DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Texomans are working together to raise funds for a former Denison student and athlete.

On November 19, a bus being driven by Calvin Hill was struck by a vehicle traveling the wrong way in College Station.

Hill, badly injured, was pulled from the fiery wreckage.

Hill's former Denison coach, Rayce Guess, and past teammates are raising funds to help him during his recovery.

"His injuries were extensive, so his journey is going to be a long journey," Guess said. "Calvin is a fighter. He's strong and  determined. It's going to be a long journey, so, moving further, we want to help him in any way we can."

Guess encourages donations to a fund to assist Calvin Hill that will be accepted at any of the First United Bank branches in Sherman, Denison or Durant.
