Gunter football gets celebratory send off ahead of state semi-final game
GUNTER, Texas (KTEN) -- The Gunter tigers headed out Friday afternoon to Abilene, Texas where they will play their highly anticipated state semi-final match up against Canadian. This is the sixth time in the last seven years that the tigers are playing in the semi's to reach another state championship.
Gunter is back in the state semi-final game this season winning fourteen straight coming into the game. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance to wish the tigers well before they started their four hour journey.
"I am so excited, I know Gunter is going to take it home...they are going to win without a doubt," said Gunter football parent, Christine Lowery.
The Gunter football horn crew also has their sight set on another trip to AT&T stadium next week.
"I feel like we got a little more athleticism, said Jay Brummett of the horn crew. "We got some experience on the team, we got some seniors, we are a very fast team, and very discipline team."
The game kicks off at 6 P.M and the winner will punch their ticket to play in Dallas for the state title.
