DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — The Bryan County United Way and VFW Post 2916 are working to help veterans have a merry Christmas.

On Saturday, December 17, United Way hosts its annual Christmas veterans giveaway.  Boxes will be filled with food, socks, gloves and toiletries.

Veterans who need help this Christmas season will be able to take those boxes home.

"This is the month when we are giving back ... to lots of people, and trying to make people's lives better and feel good," said United Way executive director Pamela Robinson.

The event will take place at Holy Family Parish Hall at 802 University Boulevard.

Veterans are asked to reserve a spot in advance by calling the Bryan County United Way.
