(KTEN) -- Texoma locals provided free Thanksgiving meals Saturday afternoon. The T&T Youth Organization in Denison as well as the VFW Post of Sherman hosted their annual free Thanksgiving dinner.

The organizers opened doors early Saturday afternoon with a kitchen full of volunteers making sure people do not miss a Thanksgiving meal this holiday season.

T&T director, Thomas Rucker says it's the volunteers who make this possible.

"Without people in the community this program would not go on. "The people that are here now helping out, we ask the lord to bless them for coming out and the ones that prepared the meal and helped give them out."

At the VFW Post, a family from New Zealand who just moved to Waco, Texas drove up to help and provide for the hungry.

"If you can see veterans giving their time here, laying down their lives for their country and now they are back out here serving, why shouldn't I as a foreigner come and help them out too," said volunteer member, Ferges from New Zealand.

With the increase in food prices this year, it makes it more difficult for people to afford holiday meals.

Organizers encouraged everyone to come out on Saturday to enjoy a dinner with all their favorite Thanksgiving fixings.
