DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — A suspect in the burglary of a safe from a Denison restaurant last week is now in custody in southeast Texas.

Denison police said Kenneth Paul Howell, 43, was arrested last Tuesday in Houston County, located about 115 miles north of the city of Houston on, unrelated charges.

He had been sought since November 7 when the Chicken Express on Morton Street was broken into and a safe was removed. The crime was recorded by surveillance cameras.

"After an investigation, evidence in Howell’s possession linked him to the burglary in Denison, Texas," said City of Denison spokesperson Emily Agans. "Criminal charges in relation to the burglary have now been filed with the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office."

Howell remains in the Houston County Jail; bond is set at $15,000.
