(KTEN) — Emergency management teams started storm preparation days in advance this week to ensure the safety of local residents.

The severe weather has already impacted people both north and south of the Red River.

Fannin County Emergency Manager Troy Hudson said it takes everyone to be able to get through severe weather threats.

"It's an open communication preparation with the National Weather Service, our first responders, and other emergency manager partners in other counties," he said.

Bryan County Emergency Manager Kenneth Eppler also noted how important it is not to wait until the last minute to get to a safer place when bad weather approaches.

"If you live in a mobile home, go visit a friend or a relative that has a much more sturdy home when the watch comes out," he said.
