(KTEN) – The coast is clear, Texoma. We were dealt a serious blow in terms of severe weather Friday afternoon through Friday evening. Several tornado warnings were issued throughout the region.

A few confirmed tornadoes were spawned by the severe storms.

 

One tornado moved through Powderly, Texas, in Lamar County; another touched down in  Idabel, Oklahoma.

Of greatest concern is the massive tornado that ripped through Idabel, Oklahoma. We will not know the extent of the damage until Saturday morning when daylight returns. A rare Tornado Emergency was issued ahead of the tornado's eventual path into the town of Idabel.

Idabel was struck with a 108 MPH wind gust, which is the fifth highest wind gust ever recorded in the Oklahoma Mesonet era.
