TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) — The mother of an infant has been jailed in Tishomingo after investigators said her malnourished child was admitted to Mercy Hospital.

Cheyenne Michelle Vivier, 27, was booked on October 28, accused of child neglect and possession of methamphetamine.

"The infant suffered from not only malnourishment, but from several other deplorable (but preventable) medical conditions and was not receiving adequate care," the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said in a written statement..

The two-month-old child was transferred to OU Children's Medical Center in Oklahoma City for additional treatment and was subsequently released from the hospital. The baby is now said to be in a safe environment.

Vivier is being held on a $30,000 bond.

“I’m am very proud of the Deputies of the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the aggressive and proactive measures they take to protect children and go after those who would harm a child," Sheriff Gary Dodd said in a statement.
