DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — The City of Denison is accepting applicants for a new property assistance program. Qualified residents can be reimbursed up to $4,000 for home repairs.

The program is designed to help low- to moderate-income Denison residents make the required repairs to comply with city ordinances that protect the value of properties and help ensure the health and safety of all neighbors.

Currently, the city is having a tough time finding enough contractors willing to lend a hand.

"We really do need the ability to get multiple bids in, and not just rely on one or two companies," said neighborhood services manager Robert Lay. "We want to be able to make sure we are getting the most for the residents with the money that we have."
