Thursday Evening- Storms continue to build into this evening across Texoma. Storms are expected to drop heavy rainfall into tonight, causing localized flooding across southern OK and North Texas. A level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather is in place for everyone. Storms continue to build through 8 pm along the I-35 corridor and lasting through 2 AM Friday morning, eventually exiting into Arkansas. 60-80 MPH wind gusts, quarter to golf ball size hail, and a low tornado threat exists. Frequent lightning will also be possible.

Looking Ahead - Overnight storms build in after midnight and increasing into early Friday morning. Friday morning commute looks soggy with widespread heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Rain and storms persist into Friday afternoon before weakening before Friday night football games. We can't rule out storms persisting into the evening but the overall trend in activity will be downwards. Lightning will still be a concern for high school football games in any storm that holds together. Into Saturday another round of severe weather looks likely, with a level 1 and 2 risk in place for Texoma. Better chances for rain will arrive for the overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning. Another cold front arrives Sunday morning into the afternoon, bringing chances for storms and cooler temps. Highs drop into the mid 80s next week with sunshine returning late Monday and into Tuesday and Wednesday. Rainfall totals through the end of the weekend could reach 1-2".

Tracking the Tropics - Hurricane Nigel is expected to remain a fish storm out in the central Atlantic. Potential Tropical Cyclone 16 has formed east of Florida and is forecast to make landfall as a tropical storm in the Carolinas on Saturday. Impacts will be felt all along the Eastern Seaboard. A tropical wave off the African coast have a 70% chance of formation in the next week.
