(KTEN) — University of Oklahoma head football coach Brent Venables handed the Red River Showdown ball off to Naval ROTC members on Wednesday as they began the annual trip to Dallas.

The run started in Norman and ends at the Cotton Bowl, where the Sooners will face the University of Texas Longhorns in their traditional gridiron showdown.

As the game ball made its way through Texoma on Thursday, the City of Davis posted a video and photo as they ran through.

It's the 25th year for the run, and according to one of the students, once they arrive they'll play different games against Texas' ROTC, like soccer and flag football.

The legend is: Whichever team wins at flag football will win the real game on Saturday.

You can watch that ball in action Saturday when Oklahoma takes on Texas starting at 11 a.m. on ABC 10.
