SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Country star Jo Dee Messina had to cancel a June 9 performance at Hot Summer Nights in Sherman after a case of COVID-19 in her band.

So she made up for it Thursday on a cool autumn evening at the gazebo outside the Municipal Building, and there was a big crowd for the free concert.

"Country shows and rock shows are really popular here," said Sarah McRae, Sherman's Tourism and Main Street manager. "It's pretty great to see a classic country act like this, especially to come to in a little less heat."

With the big response, the city is considering hosting more concerts at different times around the year.
