SULPHUR, Okla. (KTEN) — Longtime Sulphur head football coach Jim Dixon passed away Sunday at the age of 71. 

Sulphur's athletic department confirmed Dixon's death in a social media post on Monday morning.

"The Sulphur family is heartbroken and are forever indebted for the last 50 years he spent as a Sulphur Bulldog," the statement said. "He will be greatly missed and remembered forever."

Dixon was admitted to the hospital last week and then moved to the intensive care unit. The cause of death was not announced, and funeral services are pending.
