Tom Bean football disqualified from honors for three years
(KTEN) — Tom Bean football will not have the ability to compete for championship honors and participation beyond the district level. The Football UIL District Executive Committee disqualified Tom Bean football from honors at a meeting on Tuesday night.
The decision results from alleged athletic recruiting violations.
"These allegations stemmed from the recent enrollment of local home school students into the District," the Tom Bean Independent School District said in a written statement. "TBISD strongly denies any allegations that District officials and/or parties affiliated with the District recruited students for athletic purposes."
The committee's decision only applies to football, no other sports. Tom Bean ISD Superintendent Kelly Lusk told KTEN that the district will appeal to the State Executive Committee, but the appeal has not been heard yet.
