DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — The Durant Police Department arrested a man wanted in a string of auto burglaries.

Detective Brandon Mitchell said there were about 20 vehicle break-ins on Tuesday night.

Police arrested 34-year-old Stevie Joe McClain.

"An officer spotted their vehicle at a residence here at North 2nd here in Durant, and noticed it was the same vehicles used in the auto burglaries from the surveillance videos in Remington Hills," Mitchell said.

Durant police said unlocked cars are being targeted in the city.

"We would like for people to start locking their vehicles," Mitchell said. "The thieves are targeting vehicles that are left unlocked, and take your valuables inside. Don't leave anything that is valuable inside your vehicle."

McClain was taken to the Bryan County Jail.
