Denison man sentenced for child sexual abuse
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — A jury has found a Denison man guilty of multiple counts of child sexual abuse.
Prosecutors said Sim Bittick, 53, sexually abused two child relatives for years. During the trial, Bittick's wife, Tammy, detailed the abuse those young relatives endured.
"She got on the stand and said, yes, in fact, she and her husband Sim sexually abused the children and participated in the sexual abuse, and told the jury some of the graphic details they did to the children," Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith said.
Bittick was also accused of trying to hire someone to kill his victims and witnesses as he was awaiting trial.
"I've been prosecuting for over two decades; I've seen a lot," Smith said. "I have never seen a case where a witness was so brazen he wanted to kill the children that would testify against him."
Sam Bittick was sentenced to 98 years in prison. His lawyers said they plan to appeal.
Tammy Bittick is facing five counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child for her role in the abuse.
"These victims will never have to look over their shoulders again," Smith said.
