TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) -- The city of Tishomingo has recently received a loan to get sewage draining up to date from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

OWRB loaned Tishomingo $1 million to update sewer drainage within city limits. The upgrades to the system will help filtration in the waste water treatment plant.

"I think it's the first step in a three-phase project," city manager Troy Golden said. "This project will be multi-year, but will improve the waste water system in the city of Tishomingo."

According to Golden, part of the loan is "loan forgiveness", and the city will use infrastructure accounts to pay off the remaining amount.
