POTTSBORO, Texas (KTEN) - The Pottsboro Cardinals are another one of our Texoma teams that made a playoff appearance in 2021. The Cardinals made an appearance in the area round after beating Tatum 56-55 in the Bi-district round.

They'll retain a lot of guys especially up front to the likeness of head coach Matt Poe.

"We were really young on the offensive and defensive line, played some guys that really weren't ready to play on Friday night football but we had to have them," said head coach Matt Poe. "So they're more experienced this year, a year more of maturity and then they're ready to play."

The Cardinals put up numbers early and often last year, scoring 35 or more points in seven games. The expectation is to keep that up.

I'd say we have a really strong wide receiver core, great running backs, our quarterbacks are looking solid and I think our line looks pretty good too, so we'll be looking good this year," said Pottsboro said junior wide receiver Cameron Saunders.

Pottsboro opens the season on August 26 at Van Alstyne.
