HOWE, Texas (KTEN) - It's not easy when your program hasn't won a game in the last two seasons, but the Howe Bulldogs have their sights set on change in 2022 as the team welcomes new head coach Lance Bryan.

"One of the great things about these guys is I've had to coach against them the last two years, so I feel pretty familiar with them," said Bryan. "Of course I just knew them by their numbers and everything like that, but now that I've gotten to know them as people and players I really feel like they're some ways we can move some guys around and do some different things with them and have a lot more success."

"He's came in here and adapted to us, and we've adapted to him. We're honestly already a family. That's the biggest thing is chemistry right off the bat," said senior quarterback Austin Haley. "I think we've all bought in, and we're going to do what we're coached to do. We believe in him, and he believes in us. That's going to take us a long way."

Coach Bryan has brought in a new face on defense and is ready to implement a new system.

"The offensive scheme isn't going to change a whole lot. There's some things I do want to do different, incorporate some different things that I think will make us a little harder to defend," said Bryan. "Defensively I brought in my defensive coordinator Andrew Harvey. He was with me the last three years at my last school, so we both know each other backwards and forwards."

With the win column being pretty quiet the last few years, Coach Bryan and the team started a new mantra.

"It was light it up, and I love it because in our town center we have a V, a light up V. For every win we get it lights up V for victory right, and I think we want to light up that thing all year this year," said Haley.

"It's about getting ourselves that first win," said senior wide receiver Ryan Hough. "From then on I think it will just fall in place, and we'll keep getting them as we go throughout the season."

The Bulldogs start their season on the road vs Honey Grove.
