GUNTER, Texas (KTEN) — The water situation for Gunter residents is showing some improvement after two of the city's three wells failed.

The city has been able to maintain storage tank levels to the point that utility customers are now permitted to water foundations and trees for one hour between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

One of the disabled facilities, the Bridges Well, is expected to be repaired within the next 48 hours; the time frame for a fix to the Bledsoe Well is estimated at two weeks.

Gunter water customers are encouraged to continue conservation efforts and to refrain from watering lawns until all pumping stations are restored.
