ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — The Ardmore Parks and Recreation Department has some new funding to upgrade the city's trails.

Last week, the city approved LandPlan Consultants to oversee the planning duties for the upgrades. The Ardmore Institute of Health is one of the funders for the $68,962 revamp.

Upgrading the trails was always in the plans, according to Parks and Rec director Teresa Ervin, but the funding came sooner than expected.

"We would still be looking for the funds, and now they were provided for us from a very generous offer," Ervin said.

Developing the plan for the trails and construction will take more than a year before the project is complete.
